GSE Outbound Team to South Korea

Early last Wednesday morning, five young professionals boarded a plane to South Korea on a cultural exchange with Rotary International to District D3610. The team has spent months preparing for the month long program known as Rotary’s Group Study Exchange. They have prepared a presentation about Florida and the Suncoast counties to give to Rotary Clubs in District D3610 in the southern South Korea district. Also, they learned about the Korean language and culture, In Korea, the team will learn about their occupation by visiting a number of job sites and sharing information about their jobs in the Suncoast with their hosts. The team has prepared a presentation to give the people in Korea about the local area, an overall view of our culture, and their families.

The five individuals, who represent Citrus, Hernando, Pasco and Pinellas counties, will stay with Rotary families and learn about life in South Korea. Sukhwa Young, a realtor in Wesley Chapel, and member of the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel Noon, is a Korean American who will be invaluable when it comes to communicating with the Koreans. The team members are Erin Ellis, (endorsed by the Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs), an architect in Tarpon Springs; John van Daalen, (endorsed by the Rotary Club of Dunedin North), a chef in Dunedin; Cheryl Cleveland (endorsed by the Rotary Club of Dade City Sunrise), a martial arts instructor in Odessa; and Dee Zajac (endorsed by the Rotary Club of East Lake Sunrise), a nurse in Palm Harbor.
